Responsible Lending

How MAF Finance approaches consumer protection in a lead-matching marketplace.

Effective Date: May 6, 2026

Our Role

MAF Loans LLC operates MAF Finance, a loan-matching and lead-generation platform. We are not a lender. We do not extend credit, set interest rates, approve loans, or fund transactions. Lenders and other buyers make those decisions and disclose their own terms before you accept any offer.

We collect your information and may sell it to third parties as described in our Privacy Policy. We expect partners to comply with applicable law, but we do not control every action of every buyer after a lead is sold.

Our Principles

  • Transparency: We identify MAF as a matching platform and explain that lenders set actual rates, fees, and terms.
  • Honest advertising: We avoid guaranteed-approval claims and state that offers vary by creditworthiness and lender.
  • Consumer choice: You may compare offers, decline any offer, and exercise privacy rights including Do Not Sell opt-out.
  • Data stewardship: We describe our data practices openly, including the sale of personal information, in our Privacy Policy.

Our Standards for Partners

We seek to work with lenders and financial partners that adhere to applicable federal and state lending regulations. We do not knowingly partner with entities that engage in deceptive advertising, undisclosed fee schemes, or abusive collection practices.

Tips for Borrowers

  • Borrow only what you need and can afford to repay.
  • Read all loan documents carefully before accepting any offer.
  • Understand the APR, fees, and total cost of the loan.
  • Compare multiple offers before making a decision.
  • Be aware that submitting applications may result in credit inquiries.
  • Contact your lender immediately if you have trouble making payments.

Predatory Lending Warning

Be cautious of lenders that:

  • Pressure you to borrow more than you need
  • Charge fees that are not clearly disclosed
  • Offer loans with extremely high interest rates or fees
  • Require upfront payment before providing a loan
  • Contact you unsolicited and demand immediate action
  • Refuse to provide written terms or agreements

If you believe you have been a victim of predatory lending, contact your state attorney general or consumer protection agency. You may also file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Consumer Protection Resources

We encourage you to use these resources to protect yourself and make informed decisions:

  • Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) — www.consumerfinance.gov — File complaints, get answers to financial questions, and access educational resources.
  • Federal Trade Commission (FTC) — www.ftc.gov — Report fraud and unfair business practices.
  • Your State Attorney General — Each state has a consumer protection division that can help with lending complaints.
  • Annual Credit Report — www.annualcreditreport.com — Get free copies of your credit report from the three major bureaus once per year.

What We Require from Lenders

We expect partner lenders to:

  • Hold appropriate state and federal licenses where required
  • Clearly disclose all rates, fees, and terms before a borrower accepts an offer
  • Comply with applicable consumer protection laws, including the Truth in Lending Act (TILA)
  • Provide borrowers with a reasonable opportunity to review and understand loan documents
  • Maintain fair collection practices and work with borrowers who experience financial hardship

What We Prohibit

We do not work with lenders that engage in the following practices:

  • Deceptive or misleading advertising
  • Charging undisclosed or hidden fees
  • Rollover or refinancing practices designed to trap borrowers in debt
  • Harassment or abusive collection tactics
  • Discrimination based on protected characteristics
  • Requiring collateral for unsecured personal loans in a predatory manner
